An apple, spice and nut filling, wrapped in a layer of dark chocolate is pure JOY-A. It may seem like a long recipe, but it\u2019s just to help you follow the best method. It\u2019s fuss-free, fun, easy and a guilt-free dessert \u2013 just mix, roll and dip! These are perfect with a cup of coffee, but do see the tips for more ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>300 ml (120 g) ground almonds, toasted (see tip)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>200 ml uncooked oats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60 ml (\u00bc cup) dried cranberries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>160 ml (\u2154 cup) ready-made fruit mince<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1,2 ml (\u00bc tsp) ground cinnamon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 ml (1 tsp) ground mixed spice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1,2 ml (\u00bc tsp) ground ginger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2,5 ml (\u00bd tsp) ground allspice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a large pinch of ground nutmeg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 JOYA\u00ae apples in the skin, coarsely grated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>200-300 g good quality dark chocolate, chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>short kebab or cocktail sticks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>edible gold dust to garnish (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Place almonds and oats in a blender and blend until they reach a finer consistency. It should almost resemble breadcrumbs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add cranberries, fruit mince and spices and blend until the mixture comes together. Add the apples and blend until the apples are incorporated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Line a tray or freezer-safe container with baking paper. Roll mixture into balls (about 15 ml each) and place on the baking paper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Freeze balls for 30-45 minutes. The balls shouldn\u2019t be rock hard, but cold and firm enough to stay on the sticks. This makes the chocolate dipping process much easier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place chocolate in a deep bowl over a pot of gently simmering water. Stir gently over a medium heat until melted. Keep warm over the water but turn the heat off.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove balls from the freezer and skewer with the kebab or cocktail sticks. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate until well coated and place back on the baking paper. Repeat with all the balls and chocolate (see tip).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allow to set in a cool place. If it is warm outside, place in the fridge to set.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Just before serving, sprinkle with a little edible gold dust and enjoy as an after-dinner treat or in any of the ways suggested in the tips.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chef&#8217;s Tip<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toast ground almonds in a large frying pan without any oil. Place pan over a medium heat and add almonds. Gently toss or stir through until lightly golden. Take care as they can burn quite easily. Allow to cool slightly and use according to the recipe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there is any leftover melted chocolate, pour onto a tray lined with baking paper. Sprinkle the melted chocolate with nuts and cranberries for a festive chocolate treat. Allow to set, break into shards and enjoy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The truffles are perfect as place setting \u2018name tags\u2019 on a festive table. Attach a ribbon or tag with each guest\u2019s name written on it. Place a truffle at each place setting as part of your table d\u00e9cor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These truffles are delicious with ice cream or as part of a dessert platter. Why not spoil your guests with a truffle as a gift to take home?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JOYA\u00ae recipe tip<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When melting chocolate, temperature control is key. If the temperature is too high, chocolate can burn or even cease (which you never want) \ud83d\ude09.
